Excerpt

Memorials in the former SA Police College

Abstract

The document reflects on several historically significant landmarks of the old South African Police College. It highlights the parade ground—described as a place where virtually every South African policeman once marched—and recalls the beloved emblem that formerly represented the College, now preserved elsewhere. It also notes the laying of the cornerstone of the original riding school in 1931, which later became the College Gymnasium, and includes a 1936 photograph of the old riding school before its conversion. These brief vignettes capture the heritage, symbolism, and architectural evolution of the institution.
