After the death of Sarie van Niekerk Ida took the task of Police Ladies Editor here at Nongqai

Captain Ida Steyn is a seasoned law‑enforcement professional whose career in the South African Police Service (SAPS) spanned more than four decades, from 1976 to 2018.

After matriculating from Schweizer‑Reneke High School in 1975, she joined the South African Police College in Pretoria, where her lifelong commitment to public service began.

Throughout her distinguished career, Captain Steyn completed numerous specialized courses in crime scene management, intelligence gathering, cryptography, and counter‑intelligence, reflecting her dedication to professional excellence and national security. Her leadership, integrity, and devotion to duty earned her enduring respect within the SAPS and among her peers.

Today, she continues to contribute to the preservation of police heritage as the Ladies Corner editor for Nongqai, inspiring others through her example of service and perseverance.
