NO W84032N SGT PAUL CHARLES STONE; DOG UNIT PIETERMARITZBURG: (1961-1985 R.I.P.)
Deon van Niekerk
Sgt Paul Stone was stationed at the Pietermaritzburg Dog Unit. He was the son of dog handler Warrant Officer “Klippies” Stone. Sgt. Stone had only been married for 5 months and was a well-liked policeman.
Sgt Stone and his crew Cst. Zondi attended a reported burglary at Premier Foods on the night of the 3rd and 4th of April 1985. On pursuing one of the suspects, he was stabbed in the neck.
Our respect goes out to Sgt. Stone who gave his life in the act of duty. His grave now stands forgotten in the rundown and neglected C-Section of Mountain Rise Cemetery.
