FOUR DURBAN INDIAN DETECTIVES HONOURED FOR LONG SERVICE

Four Indian detectives from Durban were recently honoured for their many years of loyal service in the South African Police Force. Together, the four men completed a total of 84 years of service. Their dedication and hard work were recognised during a special medal presentation ceremony at the Durban Central Police Station.

The detectives were Detective Sergeant M Govender, Detective Constable B Garib, Detective Sergeant M Doorasamy and Detective Constable S Pillay. Among them, Detective Sergeant Govender had served for 30 years, showing great commitment to his work and the community. The other three members, Detective Constable Garib, Detective Sergeant Doorasamy and Detective Constable Pillay had each completed 18 years of service.

During the ceremony, Lieutenant-Colonel JA Oosthuizen, a CID officer at the Durban Central Police Station, presented service medals to the detectives. In the photograph, he is seen pinning a medal onto the coat lapel of Detective Constable Pillay while the other detectives proudly look on.

The event was an important occasion for the officers, their families and the police force. It recognised the years of dedication, discipline and sacrifice given by these men in protecting the people of Durban. Their long service also showed the important role Indian detectives played in the South African Police Force during that time.

Receiving medals for service is a sign of honour and respect. It reminds people of the value of loyalty, hard work and public duty. The achievements of these four detectives remain a proud moment in Durban’s history.
