During the late 1970’s I was stationed in Pietermaritzburg at Loop Street, police station, Pietermaritzburg.

Right across from the police station and district head quarters is the old Imperial Hotel.

Here is the old Loop Street Charge Office and the building that housed the District Commandant as well as the barracks. One of the illustrious inhabitants of the barracks here was General HG “Hennie” de Witt. Photo by Deon van Niekerk.
